Local solicitors Grant Saw chose Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind as their Charity of the Year two years running.
The law firm, which has offices in Greenwich, Blackheath and Sidcup, supported us in 2020/2021 and again in 2021/2022, raising more than £3,500 in total for our work through sponsored walks, quizzes, and even a virtual yoga session. They also took part in two separate month-long fundraisers, which saw them walking, running and cycling 100km and 200km in just one month.
As well as carrying out vital fundraising, the Grant Saw team gave talks to BLG Mind staff and service users on subjects including wills and the power of attorney.
Speaking at the time the partnership was announced, partner Kalpa Prajapati said: “We are pleased to be supporting a charity which carries out vital work in our local community by ensuring that people with mental health needs and dementia have an improved quality of life.”
Bromley-based technology recruitment consultants Synapri made BLG Mind their Charity of the Year for 2021/22.
Over the course of 12 months, the team raised a fantastic £1,520 for our services through a number of activities, including a 13 mile sponsored hike across London. They also literally dug deep on a cold December day to transform our Stepping Stones community garden in Bromley.
A Synapri spokesperson said: “As a business we really wanted to get involved with the community and support a local charity. As a team we decided that BLG Mind was a great fit. The pandemic has had such a big impact on people’s mental health, and whilst people are becoming more aware if it, there is more that can be done to raise awareness and help lift the stigma which can often be associated with it.
“We also want to encourage our own team to be more aware of what can be done to support it within the workplace.”
Thackray Williams Solicitors
Thackray Williams Solicitors, a law covering south London and Kent, raised a fantastic £1,100 for BLG Mind after choosing us as their Charity of the Year for 2019/20.
Over 12 months, staff from the solicitors’ office took part in a number of fundraising activities, including a Christmas Jumper Day, bake sales and their annual autumn quiz. Staff members Linda and Natasha (pictured) also volunteered at the MindCare Dementia Centre Christmas party, serving refreshments and giving gifts out to guests.
Helen Scutt, who led the Charity of the Year Partnership for Thackray Williams, commented: “Everyone in our organisation knows or has been close to someone affected by mental health problems or dementia, and so we were passionate about fundraising for BLG Mind.”
“As a local business, it is good to know that every penny we raised will go towards providing life-changing and often life-saving support to people living locally.”
English Football League (the EFL)
Working in partnership with national Mind, BLG Mind was one of a number of local Minds partnered with the English Football League (EFL).
With over 21 million fans attending EFL matches each season (and 55 million watching on TV), this partnership was a brilliant opportunity for the Mind network to promote awareness and understanding of mental health among football fans, and to help more people living with mental health problems access the support they need.
Our local teams, Charlton Athletic and Millwall FC, supported us with highly successful match day collections, which reached thousands of local fans.
We also delivered a series of mental health at work training sessions to support staff and players with their mental health and wellbeing.
