Britain’s largest logistics company, Wincanton, delivered a boost to BLG Mind’s funds this January in the form of a cheque for £1,500.
The firm’s Thameside depot, based in Charlton, south-east London, has been generously supporting BLG Mind for several years. The latest funds were raised through a Christmas raffle.
Steve Hayes, Safety, Health and Environment manager at the Thameside depot, said: “We made the decision to support local charities, so our colleagues could have some community opportunities or involvement, or may know someone who could benefit from their support.
“We always hold a traditional Christmas raffle with the aim of raising funds for charity and have donated to BLG Mind for several years. We also try and support charities in other ways, by giving some of our time to support their own fundraising events when possible.”
The Wincanton Thameside team has also undertaken BLG Mind’s mental health training.
Steve said: “We recently participated in three virtual mental health training sessions from BLG Mind, which contributes to their funding, but also raises their profile and work with our colleagues and drivers too.
“We hope to support more future initiatives, and are currently looking to do a ‘walk and talk’ event with our sister depot in Greenford to raise more funds, raise awareness and maybe raise a post-pandemic smile or two.”
