Bromley & Lewisham Mind has been successful in securing funding from the Thames Water Trust to run a one year debt prevention project for people with mental health problems in Bromley and Lewisham.
Many people experiencing mental health problems can find themselves in financial difficulties. This project will give people the ability to manage their money better and avoid problem debt.
The project will train and support people with personal experience of mental health problems as Peer Mentors. These mentors will provide people with skills and information on looking after their money more effectively through events and individual support.
The Debt Prevention project is expected to begin recruiting mentors in the autumn 2014 and providing debt prevention support from January 2015.
