How do I apply for a job vacancy?
When you have found a job vacancy that you want to apply for, click ‘Apply for role’ at the bottom of the page. You will then be invited to create an account and save an online profile. Complete all the sections of the online profile and click ‘Save and preview’. Once you are happy with your online profile you can follow the steps to save it and finally send your application.
On each of our job vacancies you will be able to download accompanying documents, such as a job description and person specification, which explain the criteria you will need to demonstrate in your application.
For volunteering vacancies, please follow the instructions on the page of the vacancy you are interested in. You will not need to create an online profile to apply for a volunteering role.
Can I save my progress and complete/submit the form later?
Yes. Once you have created your online profile, it will save it to your account with your name as the title. In order to save your progress, you must first fill out all require fields and the click the ‘Save and Preview’ button at the bottom of the page.
If you do not intend to send it immediately, remember to save your work often to avoid losing any progress.
At a later date you can go back to your account to edit your online profile. If you hover over it, it will give you the option to edit, hide or delete. You may notice that when creating an online profile it will only save when you have completed certain sections. However, you can enter a few random characters initially, just to get it to save, then go back and edit your profile later. It won’t be submitted until you click ‘send application’.
Can I apply for more than one vacancy with BLG Mind?
Yes. If you want to apply for more than one vacancy, you will need to create a second profile and keep them separate. Go to your online profile page of your account and click ‘Add profile’. It will create a new profile by duplicating the one you already have. You will then be able to edit this profile and save it separately, which you can use to tailor your application and apply for a different vacancy. Each profile will be saved with the the current date, to help you identify it later.
Please note, if you amend your online profile after sending an application, the shortlisting panel will see the updated version. So we do advise you to keep separate profiles for each job.
Can I download a copy of my application?
No. At the moment there is no facility to do this, so you would need to highlight the text, copy, and paste it into a blank document in order to save this elsewhere for your records. Your application will be saved in your online account however, so you can always view it online at a later date.
Do I have to apply online?
If you are unable to apply on our website you can download an electronic application form below. Email the completed form to email@example.com. Please note that we cannot accept job applications by post or by hand until restrictions are lifted, as staff may not currently be in our buildings to receive them.
Why wasn’t I shortlisted?
Our recruitment process is completely anonymous. The shortlisting panel cannot see your name or any other personal information about you, including covering letters, CVs or links to online portfolios etc. They use only the content of your application form to make their decision.
For this reason, it’s really important to make sure your application demonstrates why you are the best person for the job, using specific examples. Your work history and qualifications will be part of this, but the ‘Supporting Information’ section is where the panel will learn the most about you, and it should address all the criteria on the Person Specification (PS).
The PS for each of our roles will be available to download from our website, along with the full Job Description. You can find both at the top of the job advert, or request copies by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Read the PS carefully, and ensure you cover all the criteria, demonstrating how you meet each one and including specific examples from your work life, personal life, volunteering, hobbies etc. There is an example below.
Remember that we receive a lot of applications for our vacancies, so don’t be put off if you weren’t shortlisted this time. Please check our website regularly for new vacancies (or you can sign up to receive alerts), and do consider applying for other roles with us in future.
