African and African-Caribbean Counselling

African and African-Caribbean Counselling is culturally sensitive counselling appropriate for the mental health needs and individual differences of Black people.

Who is African and African-Caribbean Counselling for?

This service is for adults living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich who have a cultural background or identify as being African, African-Caribbean or of Mixed Heritage, and would prefer to talk to a counsellor who reflects their ethnicity and cultural background.

We match you as best we can with a counsellor who speaks the same language/dialect or comes from the same cultural background. Besides English, we can provide counselling in Yoruba, Igbo/Ibo, Jamaican Patois and other languages.

We acknowledge that prejudice, discrimination, poverty, homophobia, as well as present day and childhood experiences can affect an individual’s mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

Our counsellors are committed to de-stigmatising the shame and isolation many Black people face in their lives.

“It has been eye-opening. I’ve learned so much about myself and have taken a different approach on life.”
