Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your Will to BLG Mind.

Why Leave a Gift in Your Will
Every year over 6,500 local people turn to us for support with mental health problems and dementia. We are here today to help and improve the lives of all those in our local community who need us but the demands and pressures on both our mental health and dementia services are set to increase.
Each year, 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem. By 2020, depression will be the leading cause of health problems in Europe.
The next 30 years will see a huge increase in the number of people with dementia. By 2050, two million people will have dementia – more than twice as many as have it now.
We have been supporting the local community for nearly 70 years. We want to be there to support everyone that needs us in the future and will need to increase our services to meet that demand. Knowing that we can count on gifts in Wills in years to come means we’ll be able to plan ahead to help us meet the growing need.
Please Let Us Know if You Have Included Us in Your Will
We understand that your Will is a private document. However, if you do leave us a gift in your Will, please consider letting us know. With more people than ever needing help, our services we will become more stretched. Knowing that we can count on gifts in Wills in years to come means we’ll be able to plan ahead to meet the growing need.
What are the different types of gifts I can leave to charity in my Will?
There are several types of ways to include Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind in your Will. It is important to select the one that works best for you personally:
- A residuary legacy or gift is all or part of what remains of your estate, when all other debts and gifts have been accounted for.
- A pecuniary legacy or gift is a set amount of money.
- A specific legacy or gift is a particular item of value, such as jewellery or a painting.
What if I already have a Will, can I amend it?
Yes, you can. You need to add a codicil, a separate document that is kept with your Will. Your solicitor can let you know how to do this. Don’t write anything on your Will itself, as this could invalidate it.
I already have a Will. Do I need to review it?
It’s a good idea to review your Will from time to time to make sure it reflects any changes in your family or personal circumstances, like marriage or divorce, the birth of children or grandchildren, or coming into an inheritance. It’s also important to check if your estate is affected by inheritance tax as laws around this can change.
Do I need a Solicitor?
We advise you to consult a solicitor whether you’re making or changing your Will. This way you can be sure that instructions are clear and your wishes can be carried out.
