The coronavirus outbreak has affected our lives in so many different ways. If your fundraising plans have been postponed or cancelled, we’ve put together a selection of money-raising ideas you can do from home. Anything you donate will help us provide critically needed support for local people experiencing a mental health problem or dementia.
Deliver a doorstep feast
What about rustling up a tasty treat for local friends and family? They place their order and make a donation, and you drop your delicious bakes, lunches or dinners on their doorstep.
Host a quiz night
Let’s get quizzical! There are lots of quizzes you can download for free or, if you fancy yourself as a quizmaster, you could write your own. Friends and family can make a donation to take part.
Use your exercise time to raise money, whether it’s running, walking, cycling or something completely different.
You could set yourself your own challenge, or perhaps get family and friends together for a group challenge such as running a combined amount of 200km in a month.
Create a birthday fundraiser
Why not forgo birthday gifts this year and ask friends and family to donate to Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind via your fundraising page instead? Find out how to set up a fundraising page or a Facebook fundraiser here.
Donate your commute
If you’re not yet travelling to your place of work, why not donate the equivalent of what you’re saving on travel for a week or a month?
Get together virtually
Missing friends or colleagues? Set up a virtual coffee break, after-work social, Friday night meal or book club session and donate the price of your favourite drink, be it a chai latte, a beer or a Cosmopolitan.
Hold a bingo night
Your house may not be full right now but you can still enjoy a “full house”! Simply download or make your own bingo cards and decide who’s the caller. Then it’s just a matter of setting up the time and date for your virtual game and inviting people to make a donation to take part.
Dedicate a class
If you’re teaching music, fitness, crafts or anything else online, you might like to consider donating one class or a day of classes to Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind.
Have a clear-out
Has lockdown brought out your inner Marie Kondo? Why not use an online marketplace to sell those items that have been gathering dust for decades, and donate the money you make?

What to do next
Once you’ve decided on what you’re going to do, setting up a Just Giving or Facebook Fundraising page is a quick and simple way to collect sponsorship money. Once your page is set up, share the link with friends and family and any donations they make will come straight to BLG Mind.
